Offered here for your consideration is a wonderful tumbler or cup by Jocelyn Burton.Additional Details:In sterling silver with an applied figural cowrie shell, tapered sides and gilt interior.Jocelyn Burton was an enormously important English female silver and goldsmith. She executed numerous commissions to the Queen and was given the honor of making the first strike on the first English piece of platinum in the London Assay Office in 1973.She had a storied career and was recognized with awards and accolades for her excellent work for roughly four decades.Simply an amazing piece of silversmithing!Provenance: From the estate of Philip Refson, who owned the Charles de Temple jewelry shop on Jermyn St, London. Refson was a private client (and personal friend) of Burton's and often commissioned pieces directly from her.
