Diminutive, sculpted salt bowl and spoon carved from walnut by under-appreciated American teacher and woodworker, Emil Milan. Like his contemporaries Wharton Esherick and George Nakashima, Milan’s primary practice revolved around his finely crafted functional sculptures, giving familiar forms and household items a presence of their own. This bowl dates to the 1960s is newly polished and in mint condition. The alluring form is enhanced by the attractive walnut grain. Small spoon features carved holes for controlled salting. Signature and medium carved on the bottom of the bowl.6" long x 3.5" wide x 1" high, spoon is 3.5" longM1PVUOU9DN
